The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls ended a six-game skid with a 45-28 win in the consolation round of the Dakota Valley Conference tournament on Thursday, January 17th. The Cardinals defeated the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks at Deubrook High School in White.
The Cardinals started the game on a 10-0 run and led the entire way. St Mary led 12-3 after the first quarter. That lead grew to 11 points by halftime at 27-16. The Cardinal defense became more stingy in the second. St Mary held the Elks to just nine third quarter points and three fourth quarter points.
The Cardinals (4-7) will play Lake Preston for fifth place on Saturday, January 19th at 2:30 p.m. at Deubrook High School in White.
