The hot streak continued for the Dell Rapids Quarriers as they defeated the West Central Trojans 53-45 at the Dak-12 Conference Classic on Saturday, January 28th, at Dell Rapids High School. The win was the seventh in a row for the Quarriers and nine of their last 10 games.
Dell Rapids held a slim 10-9 lead after the first quarter, but Quarriers had a great second quarter scoring 20 points and holding the Trojans to 10 points to take a 30-19 lead at halftime. The halftime adjustments by West Central worked well in the third quarter as they held the Quarriers to just six points. West Central was able to get within three points at 36-33 by the end of the third quarter. The Quarriers, however, were able to make the adjustment in the fourth quarter and outscored the Trojans 17-12 to pull away for the eight-point win.
Dell Rapids was led by Aspen Hansen with 16 points, three rebounds and two steals. Emma Paul finished with 11 points and three rebounds. Jayda Knuppe added nine points. Averi Pankonen and Arial Hoffman both had six points each. West Central was led by Ashlyn Macdonald with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
