Jeffrey Schuch had one of his best games of the season to lead the Dell Rapids Quarriers past the Vermillion Tanagers 72-60 on Thursday, January 26th, in Vermillion. Schuch finished with 27 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, three steals and five blocks.
Dell Rapids had a quick 7-0 run to start the game and never let go of the lead the entire game. Every time Vermillion went on a run to get within striking distance, the Quarriers had an answer. Dell Rapids finished the first quarter with an 18-9 lead and maintained that through most of the game. The Quarriers led 36-25 at halftime and 55-45 at the end of the third quarter.
Three other players, along with Schuch, finished in double figures. Tanner Heim also had a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. Mason Peter finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Sheldon Siemonsma added 11 points. Carson Rentz also dished out four assists. The Quarriers finished the game shooting 49% (28-57) in the game.
Dell Rapids (9-2) travels to Flandreau to play Region 3A foe the Fliers on Monday, January 30th. The game will be broadcast on Big Sioux Media.
