Playing in just their second game of the year, the Dell Rapids Quarriers defeated the Baltic Bulldogs 77-54 on Tuesday, December 20th, at Dell Rapids. The Quarriers didn’t pull away until late in the second half in this win. Dell Rapids led by just five points at the end of the first quarter at 23-18. The lead was nine points at halftime at 41-32. Both teams scored 12 points in the third quarter and the lead was still just nine points at 53-44 at the end of the third quarter. However, Dell Rapids scored 22 points while holding Baltic to just 10 in the final quarter for the win.
Dell Rapids was led by Jeffrey Schuch with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Sheldon Siemonsma finished the game with 14 points. Tanner Heim also had a double-double in the game finishing with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Carson Rentz had eight points, and Austin Ellingson had seven points. Heim and Ellingson both had four assists in the game as well.
The Quarriers (2-0) will have another 11-day break until their next game. They will play Sioux Valley in the Entringer Classic on Saturday, December 31st, at 4:15 p.m. in Brookings.
