The Dell Rapids Quarriers lost to the St Thomas More Cavaliers in the opening round of the girls 2016 State A Tournament 55-24 on Thursday, March 10th, in Watertown.

St Thomas More led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter.  Dell Rapids had closed to within five points at 20-15 near the end of the second quarter, but the Cavaliers went on a 6-0 run to end the half and led 26-15 at halftime.  St Thomas More’s defensive pressure was difficult for the Dell Rapids offense to handle, as the Quarriers were held to just nine second half points.

Emma Paul had six points, two rebounds, and two assists.  Mikaela Stofferahn finished with six points, two rebounds, one assist, and three steals.  Kali Graham added four points, and Averi Pankonen and Tiffanie Dorale each had three points.

Dell Rapids will play Elk Point-Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 11th.
