After a slow first half start, the Dell Rapids Quarrier boys cruised past the Mt Vernon/Plankinton Titans on Tuesday, February 10th, at Dell Rapids High School. The Quarriers opened up a small lead early in the game and led 15-9 at the end of the first quarter. Dell Rapids scored 18 more points in the second quarter and pushed their lead to nine at 33-24 by halftime.
The Quarriers then exploded offensively in the second half. Dell Rapids scored 26 points in the third quarter while holding the Titans to just nine. This gave Dell rapids a 59-33 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Quarrier offense didn’t slow down as they added 24 more points and went on to win the game 83-42.
Dell Rapids shot 53% (31-59) from the field, 56% (10-18) from beyond the arc, and 73% (11-15) from the free throw line. The Quarriers had 40 rebounds, 19 assists, and turned the ball over 13 times. Dell Rapids had five players finish in double figures.
Adam Karst led Dell Rapids with 19 points. Ty Hoglund had 15 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Zane Schumaker added 12 points and eight assists. Sam White also had 12 points to go along with six rebounds. Ben Hammer finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five blocked shots.
Dell Rapids improves to 14-1 on the year. The Quarriers will host Dakota Valley on Friday, February 13th. The game will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.
