The Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team defeated the Canton C-Hawks 52-36 on Tuesday, February 2nd, in Dell Rapids. The Quarrier offense got things going in the middle of the first quarter after both teams struggled offensively to start the game. After Dell Rapids scored the first basket of the game after three minutes, the Quarriers added 12 more to take a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Dell Rapids was able to push their lead to 13 points at 20-7 with 5:00 to go in the second quarter. Canton was able to cut the lead to 10 points a couple of times in the quarter, but went into halftime trailing Dell Rapids 27-14.
Over the first three minutes of the third quarter, Canton went on an 8-2 run to cut the lead to 29-22. However, the Quarriers outscored the C-Hawks 8-1 the rest of the quarter to extend their lead back to 14 points at the end of the third quarter. Canton was never able to cut the lead to less than 10 points as the Quarriers earned another Dak-12 Conference win.
Dell Rapids improves to 9-6 on the year, and 7-2 in Dak-12 Conference games. The Quarriers travel to Tri-Valley High School to take on the Mustangs in their next game on Friday, February 6th. The game will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.
