With a 46-38 win over the Beresford Watchdogs, the Dell Rapids Quarrier girls basketball team earned their sixth win of the year on Friday, January 16th, in Beresford. The Quarriers held a 10-8 lead after the first quarter, and maintained their two-point lead at halftime at 20-18. Dell Rapids was able to push their lead to seven at the end of the third quarter to 36-29, and then continued to lead through the fourth quarter for the win.
Dell Rapids shot 33% (14-42) from the field and 56% (15-27) from the free-throw line. The Quarriers also had 36 rebounds and turned the ball over 12 times.
Mikaela Stofferahn had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Brittney Siemonsma ended the night with five points and 11 rebounds. Sami Reider dished out three assists in the game.
“We did not play great, but we played pretty solid in all phases of the game. We are going to need bring a little more energy and fight to the table or we could easily find ourselves on the wrong end of these types of games,” said head coach Jeff Dvorak.
The Quarriers improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in Dak-12 Conference play.
