Five different girls made three-point shots, nine different players scored, and two players finished in double figures as the Dell Rapids Quarrier girls scored the most points in a game all year in a 79-67 win over the Red Cloud Crusaders at the State A Tournament in Watertown on Friday.
Dell Rapids scored 20 or more points in two of the four quarters and outscored the Crusaders in every quarter. The Quarriers led 21-17 after a high-scoring first quarter by both teams. Dell Rapids extended the lead to 35-27 at halftime. The Quarriers then scored 44 second half points on their way to the win.
The Quarriers finished the game shooting 50% (22-44) from the field, 47% (7-15) from three-point area, and 76% (28-37) from the free-throw line. The Crusaders finished 45% (25-56) from the field, 50% (11-22) from three-point area, and 35% (6-17) from the free-throw line. Dell Rapids out-rebounded Red Cloud 39-23 in the ball game.
Mikaela Stofferahn led Dell Rapids with 27 points and eight rebounds. Averi Pankonen added 10 points. Emma Paul finished with nine points. Arial Hoffman had eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Lindsey Morris also ended the game with eight points. Sami Reider, Kaylee Hennen, Hoffman, Pankonen, and Morris all made three-point shots in the game.
Dell Rapids will face Clark/Willow Lake in the Consolation Championship game for 5th/6th place on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. in their final game of the year.
