The Tri-Valley Mustang girls basketball team traveled to Milbank on Saturday, February 13th. The game started a bit earlier than normal for a regular season double-header game, but the Mustangs overcame the early start time and first half shooting slump to get a 52-35 road victory.
The Mustangs shot just 26% in the first half (8-31), made just one of eleven three-point attempts and were four-of-eight from the free-throw line. Tri-Valley held a 7-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and 21-16 at halftime.
Tri-Valley was able to regroup at halftime and find their offensive stride. The Mustangs outscored Milbank 17-11 in the third quarter for a 38-27 lead heading into the fourth. They then held the Bulldogs to just eight fourth-quarter points to take the victory.
The Mustangs shot better in the second half to finish the game at 37% (19-51) from the field, 22% (4-18) from three-point area, and 56% (10-18) from the free-throw line.
Kaitlyn Mohnen had 10 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. Tabor Teel also had 10 points along with two rebounds, and two assists. Paige Jewett finished with nine points, and Lauren Grinde had eight points and three rebounds.
