The Tri-Valley high school baseball team got a win, 8-7, scoring the winning run on the final play of the game over Baltic in Colton on Sunday, May 2nd.
Both teams held the lead in the game. Baltic scored three runs in the first, but Tri-Valley scored two in the bottom of the inning on two Baltic errors to cut the lead to 3-2. Tri-Valley tied the game when Riley Haynes scored after another Baltic error. Connor Christensen gave Tri-Valley the lead after a two-run single to make the score 5-3.
Baltic got a run in the top of the fourth inning, and then took the lead again in the top of the fifth inning after a run scored on passed ball and then a groundout. Beau Keith tied the game on an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning at 6-6. Baltic again grabbed the lead in the top of the sixth inning after a run scored on a passed ball. Luke Lofswold hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 7-7. Braydon Humpal hit a ground ball in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Logan Colwill scored the winning run on an error.
Keith had a double with two RBIs. Christensen had a hit with two RBIs. Haynes and Colwill had hits. Lofswold and Humpal both had an RBI. Tyler Groenewold started the game pitching an inning giving up two runs, one earned, with no hits, five walks, and four strikeouts. Nate Hargreaves then pitched four innings giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits with three walks and 12 strikeouts. Keith pitched the final two innings giving up one unearned run on one hit.
