The Tri-Valley Mustang football team hosted the Canton C-Hawks in the Mustangs’ first home game of the season on Friday, September 3rd. The Mustangs fell just short losing to Canton 21-16.
Tri-Valley shut out Canton in the first quarter and had a 3-0 lead. The C-Hawks got a score in the second quarter and led 7-3 at halftime. Each team got a touchdown in the third quarter, and Canton continued to hold the lead, 14-10, heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams also got a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Mustangs finished the game with 215 yards of offense, 130 yards on the ground and 85 passing yards. Canton had 332 yards of offense, 257 rushing yards and 75 passing yards.
Eli McFarland finished 4-5 passing for 85 yards. Jaden Siemonsma had two catches for 37 yards, and Trey Johnson had a catch for 24 yards. Siemonsma also had 11 carries for 56 yards, including a two-yard touchdown run. Isaac McFarland had 12 carries and 51 yards. One of the rushes was a 17-yard touchdown. Lawson Loiseau had a carry for 47 yards. Reese Smith had a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter.
The Mustangs will hold their Homecoming game on Friday, September 10th when they host the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers.
