April 28, 2022 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

The Tri-Valley High School club baseball team had two leads against Lennox, but couldn’t hold them as they fell to the Orioles 16-5 in six innings at home on Wednesday, April 27th.

Tri-Valley scored the game’s first two runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Connor Christensen had an RBI single scoring Cole Focken, and then Barrett Althoff had an RBI single scoring Christeensen.  Tri-Valley led 2-0 after the first two innings.

Lennox scored for times in the top of the third for their first lead of the game.  Tri-Valley responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.  Focken reached on an error which scored Tyler Groenewold.   Riley Carlson added an RBI single scoring Focken, and Alex Wingen had an RBI double to give Tri-Valley the lead again.  Tri-Valley led 5-4 after three innings.

Lennox, however, scored in every inning the remainder of the game.  The Orioles scored two runs in the fourth, one more in the fifth, and then had a big nine-run sixth inning.  The game ended on the 10-run rule after six innings of play.
