Three Quarrier Golfers Qualify for State

September 24, 2018 by Matt Larson, Big Sioux Media

NewDRLogoOn a cool, rainy, windy day in Groton, three Dell Rapids Quarrier golfers were able to punch their ticket to state at the Region 1A meet at Olive Grove Golf Course on Monday, September 24th.  Karsen Welbig, Zach McKee, and Brandon Kubly will all play in the South Dakota State A Golf Tournament.

To qualify for state, either the team had to finish as one of the top three teams in the regional tournament, or an individual had to place in the top 60% of the tournament field.  Dell Rapids placed 5th as a team with a team score of 381 out of the 11-team field.  The 60% mark of the Region 1A tournament was the top 29 golfers.

Welbig placed 19th with a round of 92.  McKee was 25th with a round of 94, and Kubly finished 27th with a round of 95.  Two other golfers also participated in the tournament for Dell Rapids.  Lucas Berg finished with a round of 100, and Charlie Holm finished the day with a round of 102.

The State A tournament will be held at Rocky Run Golf Course in Dell Rapids on Monday, October 1st and Tuesday, October 2nd.
