Alberta Jacobson, 93, of Lennox, South Dakota, died Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Covington Heights Nursing Home, Sioux Falls. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January, 15, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church, Lennox with burial to follow at the Germantown Cemetery, rural Chancellor. Alberta Jeannette Stratmeyer was born six miles northwest of Lennox, South Dakota, the daughter of Claus J. and Margaret (DeBoer) Stratmeyer. She grew up here and attended Schoffelman District #63 rural school. On September 2, 1942 she married Harold Jacobson at Luverne, Minnesota. They lived in Lennox their entire married life. Harold died on October 30, 1983.
Alberta was a cleaning lady. She cleaned at Charlies Motel, Cavin Implement and more recently, at the Lennox American Legion building for over 25 years. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and the Lennox American Legion Auxiliary where she had served as President. She was a member of W.I.B.C. and the Elite 80 Club of the S.D.B.A.
Besides her husband and parents, Alberta was preceded in death by two sons, David Jacobson in 2005 and Howard Jacobson in 2010; four siblings, Alice Musch in 1993, Hildred Stratmeyer in 1988, Jacob Stratmeyer in 1997 and Frances Steigerwald in 1999.
Grateful for having shared her life are her four sons: Steve (Carole), Dell Rapids, Harry, Frank (Barb) and Bill (Cheryl) all of Lennox and one daughter, Alice (Arden) Vietor, Lennox; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as other relatives and a host of friends.
