Both Schools Perform at Respective One-Act Play Regionals

Both Dell Rapids St Mary and Dell Rapids Public high schools had performances in regional one-act play competitions on Wednesday, January 29th.

Dell Rapids St Mary performed at the Region 1B competition held at the Brandon Performing Arts Center. The team tied for 6th place overall. Jordan Eining and Austin Greene-LeBrune were named outstanding performers for their parts in the play.

Dell Rapids performed at the Region 3A competition held at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison. The Dell Rapids team placed third at their regions. Outstanding acting awards were earned by Mitchell Heinemann, Shannon Carlson, Latham Sundt, Peyton Gleason, and Kat Fletcher. Erin Larson and Abby Stauffenecker earned votes.

Student Actors Recognized for Performances

Seven student actors received recognition for their performances at their respective Region One-Act plays recently.

Two students from Dell Rapids St Mary earned awards during the Region 1B One-Act plays held on Wednesday, January 23rd, at the Brandon Performing Arts Center. Avery Carder won the Outstanding Female Actress, and Nick Wolles took home Best Male Actor.

Five different performers were recognized from Dell Rapids High School during the Region 3A One-Act plays held on Wednesday in Madison at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse. Tim Jaycox, Bergen Weiland, Lathan Sundt, Peyton Gleason, and Kat Fletcher all received Outstanding Acting Awards.

Six Students Earn Outstanding Performer Awards

Six students from the Dell Rapids community earned Outstanding Performer Awards for their performances at their respective regional one-act play festivals.

The Dell Rapids St Mary team performed at the Region 3B One-Act play festival on Tuesday, January 23rd. St Mary placed third in the regional performance at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison. Courtney Geraets and Thomas Eining earned the Outstanding Performer Awards.

The Dell Rapids cast and crew performed at the Region 3A One-Act play festival on Wednesday, January 24th. Their festival was also held at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison. Outstanding Performance Awards were earned by Tayte Gleason, Jay Holm, Isabella Tesnow, and Carter Wynja.

The South Dakota State One-Act Play Festival will be held February 1st through 3rd at the Brandon Valley HS Performing Arts Center in Brandon.

Dell Rapids Performs at One-Act Play Festival

Dell Rapids performed their one-act play “That’s Not How I Remember It” during the 61st Annual State High School One-Act Play Festival. Dell Rapids performed on the first day of the festival on Thursday, February 2nd. The festival ran from Thursday, February 2nd, through Saturday, February 4th, at the Johnson Fine Arts Center on the campus of Northern State University in Aberdeen. Twelve other Class “A” schools performed during the festival.

Eight of the plays received Superior Play awards. Three were awarded Superior Ensembles. Dell Rapids had five performers earn Superior Performers awards. They were Morgan Nemmers, Carter Wynja, Ella Lueders, Isabella Tesnow, and Jay Holm.

A total of 44 plays from Class B, Class A and Class AA performed at the festival. Class A and Class B schools had to compete at the Region level to qualify for the state festival.

Dell Rapids Finish 3rd at One-Act Play Regions

The Dell Rapids one-act play cast earned a 3rd place finish at the Region 3A competition held in Brandon on Thursday, January 30th. Outstanding acting awards were earned by by Taiven Logan and Michael Mitchell with a three-for-three sweep from the judges. Alec Riswold also earned an outstanding actor award from two out of the three judges. Jessica Tisher earned a nomination from one judge.
