Dell Rapids senior Sheldon Siemonsma has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Mount Marty Lancers in Yankton. Siemonsma signed his letter during a signing ceremony at Dell Rapids High School on Thursday, February 16th. Joining him at the signing was Mount Marty Lancer head coach Andrew Baker.
Siemonsma has scored 522 points in his career at Dell Rapids. He has a 38% field goal percentage, 33% three-point percentage, and 69% free-throw percentage. Siemonsma also has a total of 201 career rebounds, 75 assists, 45 steals, and 49 blocked shots. He currently has a total of 208 points this season while shooting 36% from the field.
Dell Rapids Quarrier head coach Jason Fersdahl said, “Sheldon has really developed into an all-around player this season. He has always been able to fill it up from long distance, but he has become a defensive stopper for us this season as well. He is long and athletic, and he will be able to guard multiple positions at the collegiate level. Sheldon is always calm and cool on the court, and I look forward to watching him continue to improve as a basketball player over the next four years.”
Siemonsma will join fellow Dell Rapids graduate Zane Schumaker who is in his freshman season for the Lancer basketball program. Fellow senior Josh Roemen recently signed with Mount Marty to play baseball.
