Lena L. Hauser, 95, went to her heavenly home Monday, April 17 at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral was held on April 21 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Parkston. On-line condolences may be left at the Koehn Bros. Funeral Home website.
Lena was born June 9, 1921 to Joseph G. and Anna C. (Kleinsasser) Kleinsasser in Chasley, ND. At the age of 5, her family moved to Freeman, SD where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Hauser on October 16, 1940 in Parkston, SD. They owned and operated an ice business which was prior to the advent of the refrigerator. Lena worked had a thirst for knowledge which led her to obtain her GED in 1960. She worked for Farmers State Ins. and later owned and operated Hauser Ins. Eventually, she started her own real estate business in Parkston. Lena enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian who believed in the power of prayer. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society, Women’s Relief Corp. and was a Cub Scout, Brownie Scout and 4-H leader. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and crocheting, camping, fishing and playing cards.

Hauser of Parkston and Mary Pfeiffer of Yankton, SD; a daughter-in-law, Kaye Hauser of Mitchell, SD; 13 grandchildren: Shelly Hauser of Sioux Falls, SD; Mark Hauser of Chicago, IL; Kristi (Ben) Wagner of Hutchinson, MN; Douglas (Gaylynn) Weber of Mitchell; Debra (Mark) Lillie of Sioux Falls; Jolyn (Dave) Doering of Parkston; Jody (Mike) Scott of Parkston; Jennifer (Travis) Leischner of Parkston; Tammara (Shannon) Tjaden of Dell Rapids, SD; Jason (Joni) Pfeiffer of Anoka, MN; Justine (Senta) Pfeiffer of Sioux Falls; Tara (Chad) Stadem of Sioux Falls; and Ashley Pfeiffer of Dakota Dunes, SD; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; a son, Larry Hauser; daughter-in-law, Judy K. Hauser; son-in-law, Vince Weber; and 7 siblings: Benny Kleinsasser, Harry Kleinsasser, Gilbert Kleinsasser, Elmer Hofer, Gene Hofer, Lillian (Hofer) Kryger and Jimmy Hofer.
