Thomas O. Fersdahl, 71, of rural Renner died Saturday, August 22, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, Baltic. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Tuesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Condolences may be left at www.minnehahafuneralhome.com.
Thomas Ordell Fersdahl was born March 3, 1944 in Sioux Falls to parents Gustav and Clara (Jensen) Fersdahl. He grew up on the family farm near Renner and graduated from Baltic High School in 1962.
Thomas served in the South Dakota Army National guard from 1964 to 1970. He also farmed with his brother, Gary until 1988. He was also known as a handyman, who could fix anything.
Thomas married Arlene Larson October 8, 2015 at Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks.
He was a lifelong member of West Nidaros Lutheran Church and served on the Baltic Elevator Board, Pioneer Cemetery Board and the Sverdrup Township Board.
Survivors include his children, Tammi Fockler, Baltic; Cathy (Jerry) Muston, Renner, and Jason (Erica) Fersdahl, Dell Rapids; six grandchildren, Haley Fockler, Joe, Sam, & Matt Muston, Braden & Lincoln Fersdahl; and a special friend Mary Bump, Renner; three nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary.
