James Hottum

James HottumJames R. Hottum, 62, of Dell Rapids passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Dells Area Health Center. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2015 with a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 p.m. at Kahler Funeral Home, Dell Rapids. James “Jim” Richard Hottum was born on January 4, 1953 in Georgia. He grew up and graduated high school and then entered the U.S. Army. He served in the Vietnam War. After his discharge he moved to Indiana where he met and married Robin Cary. The couple lived in Indiana until moving to South Dakota in 2011.

Jim was a loving father, husband and friend. He loved hunting, fishing and camping.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He loved reading books, watching western and action movies and doing puzzles.

He was a member of Christ Fellowship Church in Baltic where he loved greeting fellow members of the church and new comers for service.

He was a jack of all trades, that loved his job and working with his son at Flag Shooter in Baltic.

Jim professed Christ as his Savior.

He is survived by his wife, Robin of Dell Rapids; his children, Robert “Bob” (Kensi) of Baltic, Heather (Sheila Aills) of Lafayette, IN and Greg of MO; his 12 grandkids; his sisters, Sylvia and Ann and his nieces, Terri Lynn, Missy, Jennifer and Tanya.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Andy and sisters, Lylvia and Jenny.
