George Bollock, Jr., 73, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 1, at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. On-line condolences may be left at the Bittner Funeral Home website.
George was born October 12, 1943, in Piedmont to George and Laura Bollock. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Frieda Pody June 5, 1964. They lived in Rockford, Ill. He married Marietta Denning February 20, 1982. He worked for over 37 years doing custom bailing and hay grinding. He raised sheep and hogs, but also had a collection of hobby pets and birds that he thoroughly enjoyed.
He is survived by his children: Paula Deinert of Sioux Falls, Connie (Dennis) Dyke of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lee (Brittani) Bollock of Dell Rapids, Clint (Trisha) Bollock of Winona, Minn., and Clay (Jessica) Bollock of Sioux Falls; stepchildren, Vonda (Clint) Broer of Onawa, Iowa, Eric (Sherri) Denning of Mt. Vernon, Ward (Tammie) Denning of Lennox; special friend, Cookie Chicoine; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Max and Mojo.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marietta; his parents; and brothers, Ronnie, Lloyd and Donald “Glen”.
