The Vermillion Tanagers defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers in volleyball action on Tuesday, October 8th, in Vermillion 3-0 by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-21.

Jordan Stone led the offense with five kills on the night.  Sarah Haak had six set assists.  Haak also had three aces in the match.  Shelby Wrage and Maria Nagelhout added two aces apiece.  Defensively for the Quarriers, Karlie Leighton finished with four digs.  Emily Boyle and Wrage each had three digs.  Madie Vietor had two blocks on the night.

Dell Rapids falls to 1-15 on the year.  Dell Rapids will travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers on Thursday, October 17th, for their next match.

JV Results

The JV team defeated Vermillion by scores of 25-16, 25-12.  Megan Miles had seven kills for Dell Rapids.  Brittnay Welbig had 13 set assists.  Shelby Wrage and Welbig each had three aces.  Brittany Kludt finished with two blocks for the Quarriers, while Bailey Munk finished with seven digs.

C Team Results

The C team lost to Vermillion by scores of 25-12, 25-15.  Ashley Lorenzen had three kills.  Chloe Solberg finished with three set assists on the night.  Alexis Krantz had three aces.  Defensively for Dell Rapids, Kenzie Gullickson had nine digs.

The Garretson Blue Dragons defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers in volleyball action on Tuesday, September 24th, in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-21.  The first game was back and forth to start as both teams traded points until the game was tied at 6-6.  It was at that point Garretson went on a 6-0 run to take the lead 12-6.  Garretson maintained at least a 6-point advantage the rest of the way for the first game win.  In the second game, both teams again traded points as the two teams went back and forth through the middle of the game.  With the game tied 14-14, Garretson pushed ahead at 18-15.  Dell Rapids pulled within two points at 21-19, but the Blue Dragons finished out game two with four straight points.  Dell Rapids looked as if they were going to extend the match to a least a fourth game as they jumped out to an early 8-2 lead.  The Quarriers extended the lead to 16-8, but Garretson came back strong by going on a 9-1 run to tie the game up at 17-17.  The game was again tied at 19-19 before the Blue Dragons extended the lead to 24-20 before winning the third and final game of the night.

Madie Vietor led the team with seven kills on the night.  Jordan Stone had six kills, and Emily Boyle finished with five kills.  Maria Nagelhout had nine set assists.  Nagelhout also had two aces.  Sarah Haak also finished the night with two aces.  Defensively for the Quarriers, Cheyenne Spielmann had 12 digs.  Stone led the team with three blocks.

The next match for Dell Rapids will be Thursday, September 26th, as the Quarriers travel to Flandreau to take on the Flyers.

The JV Team defeated Garretson 25-21 and 25-17.  The C Team also beat the Blue Dragons 25-11 and 25-15.

The Canton C-Hawks defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers on Tuesday, September 17th, three games to one by scores of 25-17, 14-25, 25-15, 25-19 in Dell Rapids.  Canton jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first game.  The Quarriers cut it to 23-16, but the C-Hawks were able to hold on for the first game win.  Dell Rapids took game two with a run midway through the second game.  The third game was back and forth with the game tied at 9-9, but Canton reeled off seven straight points to go ahead 16-9 on the way to the win in the third game.  Again, the fourth game was close as Canton led 14-11, but another run put the C-Hawks up 19-11.  Canton would hang on and win the game and the match.

Emily Boyle had four aces in the match for Dell Rapids.  Madie Vietor and Jordan Stone each had six kills apiece.  Maria Nagelhout had 11 set assists.  Stone also helped lead the defense with three bloks.  Karlie Leighton finished with eight digs on the night.

Dell Rapids falls to 1-6 on the year.  The Quarriers will travel to Tri-Valley to take on the Mustangs on Thursday, September 19th.

The JV team defeated Canton 2-0 by scores of 25-16, 25-13.  Mikaela Stofferahn had eight kills in the match.  Brittnay Welbig had 12 set assists and 10 aces.  Shelby Wrage finished with five digs.

C Team Results:

The C Team fell to Canton 2-1 by scores of 17-25, 25-22, 11-15.  Chloe Solberg had five kills.  Autumn Schumaker and Alexis Krantz each had two aces.  Kenzie Gullickson had six digs in the match.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers volleyball team lost to the Tea Area Titans on Thursday, September 12th, by scores of 10-25, 25-27, 19-25.  Courtney Wolles finished with three aces in the match.  Maria Nagelhout and Sarah Haak each had eight set assists apiece, while Madie Vietor and Jordan Stone finished the night with seven kills each.  Bailey Munk had 20 digs in the match, and Karlie Leighton added 15 digs.  The Quarriers record falls to 1-5 on the year.  Dell Rapids will host Canton on Tuesday, September 17th, which will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.

The JV team defeated the Titans 25-23, 25-20.  Emily Boyle led the Quarriers with four aces, four kills and four digs.  Mikalea Stofferahn had five kills, Brittany Kludt had four kills, and Mara Adams finished with six digs.  Brittnay Welbig had two aces and 14 set assists in the math.

C Team

The C team lost in three games 25-23, 23-25, 8-15.  Alyssa Shellum had six kills, while Chloe Solberg had three aces and six set assists.  Alexis Krantz also had six set assists.  Kenzie Gullickson finished with six digs to lead the defense.

 

The West Central Trojans defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers in volleyball action on Tuesday, September 10th.  The Trojans defeated the Quarriers in straight sets in the first home match of the season for Dell Rapids.

West Central used a run early in the first set to jump out to a lead the Quarriers could not overcome.  West Central won the first set 25-11.  The Trojans again jumped out to a lead early in the second set and led 20-13 before the Quarries tied the set up at 20-20.  The next few points went back and forth until the Trojans rallied for two points to win 27-25.  West Central took that momentum into the third set and took a 10-1 lead, never looking back for the 25-8 set win for the match.

Bailey Munk had two service aces in the match.  Jordan Stone finished with four kills on the night, and Maria Nagelhout had six set assists.  Defensively for Dell Rapids, Maddie Vietor had two blocks, and Karlie Leighton ended the night with seven digs.

Dell Rapids will travel to Tea to take on the Tea Area Titans on Thursday, September 12th.

Highlights:

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team lost to Elk Point/Jefferson on Tuesday, September 3rd, 14-25, 7-25, 24-26.  Maria Nagelhout recorded two serve aces in the match.  Sara Haak had six assists, and Tori Murphy had six kills.  Karlie Leighton finished with 10 digs defensively, and Madie Vietor had six blocks.  The loss drops the Quarriers record to 1-4 on the season.  They will host West Central on Tuesday, September 10th, which will be webcast live on Big Sioux Media.

The JV team lost to Elk Point/Jefferson 14-25, 18-25.  Brittnay Welbig had seven assists, and Mikaela Stofferahn had four kills.  Sami Reider had two serve aces in the match.  Defensively for the Quarriers, Shelby Wrage had 10 digs.

C Team Results:

The C team also lost to Elk Point/Jefferson 23-25, 14-25.  Chloe Solberg had seven assists, and Alyssa Shellum had four kills in the match.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers had their volleyball season ended by the Baltic Bulldogs in the semifinals of the District 6A volleyball tournament Tuesday, October 30th, in Dell Rapids.  Baltic beat Dell Rapids by set scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-17.  Leaders on the night were Cassidy Wright (10 kills), McKenzie Rinehart (8 service points) and Morgan Hoglund (11 digs).  Dell Rapids’ season comes to an end with a record of 11-18.

Baltic moves on to the championship game against Sioux Falls Christian on Thursday, November 1st.

 

On Thursday, October 25th, the Dell Rapids Quarriers dropped a Big Sioux Conference volleyball contest to the Dakota Valley Panthers by set scores of 19-25, 6-25, and 18-25.  Playing in their last regular season contest were Margo Hegge, Morgan Hoglund, Aleza Kirschenmann, McKenzie Rinehart, and Cassidy Wright.  Leaders on the night included Hoglund with 12 digs and five service points.  Hegge added four digs, four service points and six set assists.  Wright chipped in with seven kills.  The Quarriers ended the regular season with a 11-17 record.  The team will play Baltic Tuesday, October 30th, at Dell Rapids High School in the first round of the District 6A Volleyball Tournament.

On Monday, October 22nd, the Dell Rapids Quarriers dropped a Big Sioux Conference match to Beresford by the set scores of 22-25, 25-23, 13-25, and 23-25. Morgan Hoglund had 12 service points and 11 digs.  Cassidy Wright added nine kills. The Quarriers’ record now stands at 11-16.

The JV team and C teams defeated their opponents two sets to zero and two sets to one respectively.  Leaders for the JV were Jordan Stone, Brittnay Welbig, Brittney Siemonsma and Cheyenne Spielmann.  The C team played their best sets of the year.  Mara Adams, Megan Welbig, and Hannah Welbig led a complete team effort for the Quarriers.

The Dell Rapids Quarriers volleyball team participated in the Big Sioux Conference Tournament in Tea on Saturday, October 13th.  The netters posted a 1-2 match record to claim 7th place.  Dell Rapids fell to Tri-Valley 14-25, 21-25, 11-25 in the opening round.  Beresford picked up a win over the Quarriers in the second round 25-15, 22-25, 15-25.  Dell Rapids came back to defeat Canton for 7th place 25-22, 25-16.

Leaders for the tournament included Margo Hegge with 10 digs, 10 service points and 10 set assists.  Morgan Hoglund picked up 28 digs and 9 service points, while Sarah Haak had 22 digs.

The Quarriers are now 11-13 on the year.  Dell Rapids will travel to Madison to take on the Bulldogs on Tuesday, October 16th.
