Quarrier Volleyball Falls to McCook Central/Montrose

QuarriersThe Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team was defeated by the McCook Central/Montrose Cougars 20-25, 25-16, 20-25, 23-25 on Tuesday, September 30th, in Dell Rapids.

Tiffany Finkral had 13 service points and a season-high 12 kills in the match.  Brittany Kludt had nine kills and three blocks for the Quarriers.  Sara Haak finished the match with 28 set assists.  Defensively for Dell Rapids, Shelby Wrage led the team with 12 digs.  Baily Munk added 10 digs.

Dell Rapids falls to 7-9 on the year.  The Quarriers will travel to Lennox to take on the Orioles on Thursday, October 2nd.

JV Results:
The JV team lost to the Cougars 2-1.  Sami Reider and Hannah Welbig anchored the backrow play.  Sara Van Regenmorter, Kiah Schumacher, and Trinity Gordon were cited for the offensive leadership.

C Team Results:
The C team also fell to the Cougars 2-1.  All 16 players on the C team saw action and contributed nicely in the heart-breaking defeat.

Quarrier Volleyball Defeats Flandreau

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team defeated the Flandreau Fliers on Thursday, September 25th, in straight sets by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.

DRvsFlandreau_9-25-14_3Defensively for Dell Rapids, Brittany Kludt had three blocks.  Shelby Wrage had 10 digs, and Sarah Haak added six digs.  The Quarriers were led offensively by Tiffany Finkral with 13 kills, and Mikaela Stofferahn with 11 kills.  Haak had 18 set assists on the night.  Wrage also tallied 11 service points.

The Quarriers improve to 6-5 on the year and will play in the Pentagon Classic on Saturday, September 27th.

JV Results:
The JV team also defeated the Fliers two sets to none.  Kiah Schumacher, Trinity Gordon, Sydney Stofferahn, and Megan Miles were cited for their contributions both on offense and defense.DRvsFlandreau_9-25-14_2

Quarrier Volleyball Falls to Tri-Valley

DRHSvsTV_VB_9-18-14_2The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team lost a tough match to the Tri-Valley Mustangs on Thursday, September 18th, by scores of 12-25, 10-25, 25-23, 28-26, 5-15.

Tri-Valley took the first two games with relative ease, but the Quarriers fought back in a back-and-forth third game.  With the score tied 23-23, Dell Rapids scored the final two points to push the match to a fourth game.  The Quarriers rode the momentum early in the fourth game gaining an 18-10 lead.  The Mustangs fought back and tied the game up late.  Tri-Valley then had the fourth game at match point three different times before Dell Rapids rallied for three straight points to win game four at 28-26.  However, the Quarriers could not complete the comeback as Tri-Valley took the fifth game 15-5 to win the match.

Shelby Wrage had eight service points and 14 digs in the match.  Baily Munk ended the night with 23 digs.  Brittany Kludt and Mikaela Stofferahn had three blocks each defensively.  Emily Boyle finished with 11 kills, and Stofferahn had nine kills.  Sarah Haak had 30 assists in the match.

Dell Rapids fell to 4-5 on the year.  The Quarriers will travel to Garretson on Tuesday, September 23rd.DRHSvsTV_VB_9-18-14_1

Quarrier Volleyball Back in Win Column

QuarriersThe Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team got back into the win column with a straight set win over the Canton C-Hawks on Tuesday, September 16th, in Canton.  The Quarriers won by set scores of 25-15, 25-16, 25-16.

Tiffany Finkral had 14 service points and eight kills to lead the Quarriers.  Mara Adams added eight kills.  Brittany Kludt finished with seven kills and three block points.  Sarah Haak finished with 22 set assists in the match.  Shelby Wrage contributed 15 digs for the Quarrier defense.  Baily Munk added 14 digs.

Dell Rapids improves their record to 4-4 on the year.  The Quarriers will host Tri-Valley on Thursday, September 18th.  The match will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.

JV Results:
The JV team won two sets to zero.   Kia Schumacher, Chloe Solberg, Megan Miles, Sami Reider, Trinity Gordon, and Hannah Welbig led the total team effort.  C Team Results:
The C team set scores were 25-20 and 26-24.  Betsy Amundson was cited for her efforts on both offense and defense.  Kenedy Mergen added seven service points.   Lydia Symens and Sydney Stofferahn played well on the defensive side of the net.

Quarrier Volleyball Falls to Tea

QuarriersThe Dell Rapids Quarriers dropped a match 3-1 to the Tea Area Titans on Thursday, September 11th, in Dell Rapids.

Dell Rapids took an early lead in game 1 at 5-2, but Tea ran off 10 straight points to take a 12-5 lead, and then pushed the lead to 18-7 later in the game.  Dell Rapids was able to pull within five points late in the game at 24-19, but Tea was able to close out the game at 25-19.

The second game was much closer throughout the entire game.  Dell Rapids led again early at 4-3, but the Titans out-scored the Quarriers 6-3 over the next few points to take a 10-6 lead.  The Quarriers pulled to within two points at 9-11, but Tea again was able to push the lead to 14-9.  With Tea leading 18-13, Dell Rapids was again able to get as close as two points at 17-19, but Tea pulled away with the win in game two at 25-19.

In the third game, Tea jumped out to a very early 8-1 lead.  Dell Rapids battled back and was able to cut the Tea lead to 11-13.  The Titans then went on a little run to extend their lead to 18-12, and that’s when Dell Rapids made their run.  The Quarriers chipped away to cut the deficit to 15-18.  They then pulled to within one point at 21-22.  Tea scored the next two points to make the score 24-21 and force match point.  However Dell Rapids scored the next five points and came back to win game three at 26-24 to force a fourth game.

Game four was back and fourth throughout the first half of the game.  Tea and Dell Rapids were tied 12-12 midway through the game.  Tea then went on a 10-2 run to grab a 22-14 lead, and the Titans went on to win game four 25-17 and win the match.

Dell Rapids was led by Tiffany Finkral who had six kills and nine service points in the match.  Emily Boyle also added six kills.  Brittany Kludt had four blocks on the night.  Sarah Haak, Baily Munk and Shelby Wrage also played a great defensive match.

The Quarriers fall to 3-4 on the year.  Dell Rapids will travel to Canton on Tuesday, September 16th.


JV Results:

The JV team lost two sets to zero to Tea.  Megan Welbig, Hannah Welbig, Kiah Schumacher, and Kenzie Gullickson were cited for their efforts.

C-Team Results:
The C Team lost their match to Tea two sets to one.  Tiffanie Dorale, Arial Hoffman, Lydia Symens, Rebecca Tiernan, and Autumn Schumaker lead the team’s efforts.

Quarrier Volleyball Falls to West Central

QuarriersThe West Central Trojans defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers in volleyball action in Hartford on Tuesday, September 9th.  The Trojans won in straight sets 25-18, 25-13, 25-14.

Shelby Wrage led the offense and defensive efforts for the Quarriers in the match.  Mikaela Stofferahn and Tiffany Finkral each had three kills apiece.  Sarah Haak ended the night with nine set assists.

The Quarriers fall to 3-3 on the season.  They will host Tea on Thursday, September 11th, and the match will be webcast on Big Sioux Media.

JV Results:
The JV team fell two sets to zero.  Leaders included Megan Miles and Sami Reider.  Sydney Stofferahn, Alexis Kranz and Betsy Amundson were cited for the strong efforts.

Quarrier Volleyball Team Loses Home-Opener

QuarriersThe Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team lost their first home match of the year to the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies 14-25, 19-25, 23-25 on Tuesday, September 2nd.

The first game was back and forth through the first part of the game.  With the score tied 10-10, Elk Point-Jefferson went on a 7-3 run, and then closed out the first game on an 8-1 run for the 25-14 win.  The Huskies held an early 10-6 lead in the second game, but the Quarriers fought back and scored eight points in a row to take a 14-10 lead.  Dell Rapids held a 16-13 lead after both teams traded the next few points.  The Huskies tied the game at 16-16, and then again at 18-18.  From there Elk Point-Jefferson went on a 7-1 run to win the second game.  The Quarries had control of the third game for most of the first half.  They held a steady two-to-three point lead.  Already leading 13-10, Dell Rapids scored the next four points to extend their lead to 17-10.  The Quarriers were able to push the lead even higher to 22-14, looking to win the third game and extend the match, but the Huskies pulled to within a point at 22-21 after scoring seven points in a row.  Dell Rapids gained the next point to go ahead by two at 23-21, but it was the Huskies that would score the final four points for the match win.

Sarah Haak finished the match with eight service points and 10 assists.  Mara Adams had six kills for the Quarriers, while Tiffany Finkral added five.  Bailey Munk led the team defensively with 12 digs on the night.  Brittany Kludt finished with two blocks.

The Quarriers fall to 3-2 on the year, and will travel to Hartford to take on the West Central Trojans on Tuesday, September 9th.

JV Results:
The JV team lost to Elk Point-Jefferson two sets to one.  The offensive leaders for the Quarriers were Chloe Solberg, Trinity Gordon, Megan Miles, and Tiffanie Dorale.  The defensive leaders were Hannah Welbig and Sami Reider.

C-Team Results:
The C-Team won their match against the Huskies two sets to one.  The offensive leaders were Kenedy Mergen, Sara Van Regenmorter, and Tiffanie Dorale.  Arial Hoffman and Autumn Schumaker led the defense of the Quarriers.

Quarrier Volleyball Third at C-Hawk Invite

The Dell Rapids Quarrier volleyball team finished with a 3-1 record and third place at the C-Hawk Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Canton on Saturday, August 30th.

The Quarriers finished 2-1 in pool play.  Dell Rapids lost to Parker 20-25, 8-25, but picked up match wins over Canton 25-11, 25-9 and over Garretson 25-20, 25-9.  Dell Rapids then defeated Dak-12 foe West Central in the third place match 18-25, 10-25, 25-23, 25-15, 15-9.

The Quarriers are 3-1 on the season and will host the Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Quarriers Advance in Region 3A Tournament

Quarrier LogoThe Dell Rapids Quarriers picked up their second win of the year in the first round of the Region 3A Tournament.  Dell Rapids beat Flandreau 25-19, 25-21, 25-17 in Flandreau.  Jordan Stone led the team with seven kills.  Sarah Haak had five kills, while Brittany Kludt and Emily Boyle each had four kills.  Maria Nagelhout had nine set assists along with six aces.  Haak also had seven set assists.  Defensively Bailey Munk and Shelby Wrage each had 12 digs.  Stone finished with two blocks.

Dell Rapids will take on the Madison Bulldogs at Sioux Falls Christian High School on Thursday, November 7th, at around 7:30 p.m.  The match will follow SF Christian vs Garretson, which starts at 6:00 p.m.

Bulldogs Spoil Senior Night

Quarrier LogoThe Madison Bulldogs defeated the Dell Rapids Quarriers 3-0 in volleyball action on Tuesday, October 24th, on Senior Night by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-10.  With the first game tied 4-4, Madison went on a big run by scoring 13 straight points to take a 17-4 lead and eventually win the first game.  The second game was very close throughout the first half.  Neither team was able to get a lead of more than a couple of points, and the game was tied at 15-15.  However, the Bulldogs were able to slowly pull away from the Quarriers at 20-17 on the way to the win.  Again in the third game, both teams remained close.  The game was tied at 7-7, and then again at 10-10, but Madison closed out the game and match with 15 straight points.

Emily Boyle led the Quarrier offense with four kills on the night.  Brittnay Welbig had four set assists along with two aces in the match.  Brittany Kludt finished with three blocks.  Shelby Wrage had seven digs, and Baily Munk finished with six digs.

Dell Rapids falls to 1-20 on the year.  The Quarriers will travel to Chester on Friday, October 25th, for their next match.

JV Results:
The JV team defeated Madison 25-14, 25-17.  Mara Adams had five kills in the match.  Brittnay Welbig had 13 set assists.  Emily Boyle finished with three aces.  Defensively for Dell Rapids, Megan Miles had two blocks and Adams collected four digs.

C Team Results:
The C team lost to Madison 15-25, 10-25.  Kennedy Mergen had three kills in the match.  Autumn Schumaker had four set assists to go along with two aces.  Chloe Solberg also had two aces in the match.  Betsy Amundson had eight digs, while Kenzie Gullickson finished with seven.
