The Dell Rapids Quarrier boys golf team was able to play in their second full tournament on Tuesday, August 29th, two weeks after their last tournament. The Quarriers played in the West Central Early Bird tournament on August 14th, but had their next two tournaments (Beresford Invite and Dells Invite) cancelled due to weather. The weather cooperated very nicely for the Charger Invite at Spring Creek Golf Course.
Dell Rapids finished 10th with a team score of 371. Dakota Valley won the team title with 313. Sioux Valley was second with 326, and Tea Area was third with 337.
Mason Schmidt had the low score for the Quarriers. He placed 12th individually with a round of 81. Karsen Welbig finished with a round of 90. Zach Mckee had a 95, Brandon Kubly finished with a 105, Lucas Berg shot a 107, and Malakai Anderson had a 120. Jacob Lee of Parkston placed first with a tournament record -4 round of 68.
Head Coach Mick Hoglund said, “We need to improve in order to compete this year. We’re getting better, but still aren’t there yet.”
The Quarriers will travel to Mitchell for the Parkston Invite on Friday, September 1st.
