Carol J. Kroeger, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Sanford University Medical Center in Sioux Falls. She was born January 15, 1935 at Flandreau, SD to Ray and Edith (Sorensen) Rosheim. Carol attended school at Flandreau and Egan Public Schools. She grew up attending Lone Rock Lutheran Church. Carol married Thomas Kroeger on December 18, 1956 at Lake Benton, MN. She had a day care then worked for Dakota Industries, Viking Industries, Eaton Dakota, Bayliner in Pipestone and then Royal River Casino. Her husband preceded her in death on March 7, 1990. She moved to Sioux Falls in December 2014. Carol was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, WELCA, and enjoyed playing cards and traveling. Quilting, sewing, crocheting, and making lefse were her passions and family members as well as friends were given quilts and afghans. She gifted blue jean quilts to her granddaughters’ entire graduating class, and also donated quilts to Sanford Children’s Castle. Her lefse was famous in the area.
Carol is survived by three children, Dale (Brenda), Dell Rapids, Linda (Glen) Van Dyke, Billings, MT, Lori Kroeger, Dell Rapids, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a sister Dianne Lewis, Grantsburg, WI. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two grandchildren, Chris and Brittany.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau. Condolences may be left at Skroch Funeral Home.
