Barbara Hymans

Barbara Hymans, 64, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2013 at her home in Dell Rapids after a year long battle with cancer. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Gwen Mader officiating. Interment will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013 with the family present from 1:00 p.m – 3:00 p.m. at Kahler Funeral Home. To leave condolences please visit www.kahlerfh.com.

Barbara Ann was born on September 15, 1948 at Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of Verlin and Maxine (Orcutt) Johnson. She attended school at Egan and graduated from Egan High School in 1966. She met Harold Hymans and they married July 5, 1968. He was in the Marines and they moved to Yuma, AZ for three years. After his discharge, they moved to a farm west of Colton. They had two daughters. The couple later divorced. Barb moved to Dell Rapids and started working for Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids. She worked there until poor health forced her retirement.

Barb was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafting and making craft projects for the many residence at Terrace Manor. She loved her family and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her daughters, Robin (Raul) Figueroa of Forney, TX and Tanya Hymans of Dell Rapids; her five grandchildren, Nicole (Caleb) Dabney, Courtney Gores, Austin VanEngen, Bella Hymans and Taylor Figueroa; her two granddaughters, Cayla and Chloe; her brother, Harvey (Brenda) Johnson of Egan, SD and her three sisters, Verla (Roy) Schut of Brookings, Ellen (Jim) Hymans of Dell Rapids and Jeri (Scott) Daniels of Madison and her many nieces and nephews.
