Alice Hansen, 91, of Dell Rapids, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017 in her home. Her Memorial Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Kahler Funeral Home. The Christian Wake Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by a family rosary. Alice was born on August 2, 1925 in rural Jasper, MN, the daughter of Mabel and Halvar Ellefson. She attended Trent High School and graduated in 1943. Alice married Odilo “Dee” Hansen on November 13, 1945. They made their home in rural Dell Rapids where they raised their six children.

Alice was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Anthony Altar Society. She volunteered at Padre’s for ten years. She was a talented refurbisher of antique furniture and was known for her upholstery, creative craft projects and patchwork blankets. Alice loved sports, whether listening to it on the radio or watching whoever was playing, especially her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were always treated to her delicious cookies and cakes.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dee, and her brother, Harvey Ellefson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Dennis (Kathleen), Barb (Jerry) Murphy, Greg, Karen (Scott) Crisp all of Dell Rapids; Paul (Peg) of Madison and Ann (Steve) Krier of Sioux Falls; her sister-in-law, Mabel Ellefson of Dell Rapids; her sixteen grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren and her many relatives and friends.
