LaVonne Leitheiser, 74 of Sioux Falls died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Dougherty Hospice House. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Willow Creek Lutheran Church, rural Dell Rapids. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Condolences may be left at Minnehaha Funeral Home.
LaVonne was born January 21, 1941 at Hartford, South Dakota to parents, Clark and Bernadine (Maxvold) Gregg. At the age of four she moved with her family to a farm west of Baltic. She attended the Baltic School and later graduated from Lincoln High School. After education she continued to live in Sioux Falls
LaVonne was a waitress for Murray’s, Rentschler’s and Grandma Mac’s for 47 years and was honored by Gov. George S. Mickelson as Waitress of the Year in 1992. She enjoyed traveling, crafts and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Ricky (Erka) Leitheiser, Chester; Penny (Jeff) Peterson, Crooks; Terry (Monica) Leitheiser, Rapid City; and Christy (Jeff) Nelson, Brandon; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Byamba, Stacy, Joshua, Jesse, Zach, Heather, and Daniel; seventeen great grandchildren; a sister, Audrey (Elden) Hilmoe, Dell Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step dad, Cliff Ottum, brothers, Donald and Charles Gregg and sister, Melva Dybedahl.
