A night after a long, hard-fought, five-set battle against Beresford, the Dell Rapids Quarriers closed out their regular season at home on Tuesday, October 23rd against the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks. The Quarriers reached the 20-win mark with a straight set win by scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.
Dell Rapids got out to four-to-five point leads early in each set and slowly grew the leads throughout the sets. The Quarriers controlled each set on their way to the match victory.
Jayda Knuppe finished with 14 kills and three ace serves. Maria Jackson had eight kills, and Kyra Graham had seven kills. Hannah Fletcher finished with 32 set assists. Brooke Klein had 31 digs. Knuppe and Mackenzie Grisham both had eight digs, and Sam Price tallied seven digs.
The Quarriers (20-8) will enter the Region 3A tournament as the #2 seed. Dell Rapids will have a first-round bye and will play the winner of Tri-Valley and Garretson on Thursday, November 1st. The match can be seen on Big Sioux Media.
