The Dell Rapids Quarrier football team kicked off the 2013 season in Madison on Friday, September 6th, against the Madison Bulldogs. Madison scored in every quarter for a 39-12 win over the 3-time defending 11A state champions. The Bulldogs led 26-6 at halftime. Madison dominated both sides of the ball in the game, gaining 405 total yards while holding Dell Rapids to just 235 total yards.
Brett Nichols ran for 86 yards on nine carries with one touchdown. Riley Schmidt had 68 yards on 10 carries. Tanner Solberg finished the game 4-16 passing for 44 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Zach White had a 17-yard touchdown catch in the game. Madison was led by Rush Milne on the ground with 78 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. Mason Hemmer added 68 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns. Jacob Giles was 11-16 for 221 yards passing for Madison with a touchdown. Preston Nordling had four catches for 89 yards.
Dell Rapids falls to 0-1 on the season. The Quarriers will host Tea Area on Friday, September 13th.
