Donald Nussbaum

Donald NussbaumDonald D. Nussbaum, 74, of Garretson died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Palisade Manor in Garretson. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Monday, March 3, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Burial will be in the Palisade Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 3-5:00 PM Sunday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Donald Delano Nussbaum was born on September 22, 1939, in Luverne, Minnesota to parents Henry and Annie (Anderson) Nussbaum. He grew up in the Garretson area and attended Garretson High School. He then went to carpentry school and worked as a finish carpenter and farmed in the Garretson area.

Donald married Diane Rademacher June 11, 1960, at Palisade Lutheran Church, Rock County, Minnesota. Don took pride in carpentry work and enjoyed hunting, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughters, Robin (Kevin) Baum, Garretson; Lisa (Brett Williams) VanDeBerg, Garretson; Nicole (Todd) Mortrude, Omaha; Kim (Wayne) Mortrude, Dell Rapids; eleven grandchildren: Joel (Jen) Zweep, Thomas (Dawn) Zweep, Justin, Shane, and Mara VanDeBerg, Jordyn Williams, Mitchell and Morgan Frewaldt, Seth Mortrude, and Zoe and John Mortrude, five step-grandchildren: Shani Smith, Tara Valla, Abbie Peterson, Jessie Baum, and Camryn Mortrude; 2 great grandchildren, Jordyn Kuphal and Avery Zweep; his siblings, LaVonne Gibson, Sioux Falls; Merle Nussbaum, Sioux Falls; Norm Nussbaum, Garretson; and Donna Wagner, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert, a sister Joanne Huslander and a granddaughter, Jacquie Zweep.
