De Smet Volleyball Wins Second Straight Road Match

The De Smet Bulldogs won their second straight road match on Tuesday, October 8th.  The Bulldogs defeated the Iroquois/Lake Preston Sharks in straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-13.

De Smet started the first set with a quick 4-2 lead.  They were able to build on that lead to 14-9.  The Bulldogs continued to rally and took the first set 25-13.  The second set started with a 3-3 tie.  The Sharks then held an 8-6 lead before another tie at 10-10.  The Bulldogs then went on a 7-3 run for a 17-13 lead.  Iroquois/Lake Preston rallied to tie the score 19-19, but De Smet finished the second set on a 6-1 run for a 25-20 win.

In the third set of the match, De Smet took an early 7-4 lead.  They continued to lead by three points, 12-9.  From that point, the Bulldogs started to pull away.  They extended the lead to 17-11 and then finished the match on an 8-2 run for a 25-13 victory.

Megan Dylla finished with 25 set assists.  Hhazel Luethmers had 15 kills, two blocks, and three ace serves.  Ivey Schoenfelder added six kills and three ace serves.  Brooke Jennings had a team-high nine digs in the match.
