The De Smet Bulldog football team hosted a very tough Elkton-Lake Benton Elks team on Friday, September 13th. The Elks blanked the Bulldogs by a score of 42-0.
Elkton-Lake Benton scored three times in the first quarter. The first score was on a 13-yard touchdown run with 8:09 on the clock. The second touchdown was on a 47-yard run with 4:34 to play. The third score happend with 3:02 left in the quarter on a 35-yard touchdown pass. The Elks led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Elkton-Lake Benton added two more scores in the second quarter. With 6:37 in the half, they scored on a 45-yard touchdown run. They got a 30-yard touchdown run with 1:09 to go. The lead was 35-0 at halftime. The Elks scored one more time with 8:00 left in the game on a 49-yard run.
Ganon Henrich had 10 carries for 26 yards. Gannon Gilligan finished with 11 carries for 38 yards. Slayten Wilkinson had 11 carries for 27 yards. Brody Halverson was just 1-3 passing for 34 yards. Henrich had the lone catch for 34 yards.
