Colman-Egan Rides Momentum to Win over De Smet

Colman-Egan was able to turn would could have been an 0-2 match deficit into a 3-1 match win over the De Smet Bulldogs in Colman on Thursday, September 5th.

After ties of 4-4 and 8-8 to start the match, the Bulldogs went ahead 16-9 and cruised to a 25-14 win.  The start of the second set was much like the first.  The score was tied 2-2 and 10-10.  The back and forth continued to a score of 14-14.  The CE Hawks then went on a 3-0 run for a 17-14 lead.  After the Bulldogs went ahead 18-17, Colman-Egan went back in front 21-18.  De Smet rallied to tie the score 22-22.  De Smet was one point away from taking a 2-0 set lead at a score of 24-23, but Colman-Egan was able to force extra points.  The Bulldogs had another chance to win after leading 26-25, but again the Hawks tied the score.  Colman-Egan eventually won the second set 29-27.

The momentum to come back and steal the win in the second set carried the Hawks through the rest of the match.  They won the third set by a score of 25-14.  De Smet hung with Colman-Egan in the fourth as the score was tied 10-10.  The Bulldogs even took a lead of 17-15.  Colman-Egan, however, would end the match on a 10-3 run for the 25-20 win in the fourth set.

Hazel Luethmers had 21 kills, 13 digs, and six blocks.  Mirra Beck finished with eight kills and nine digs.  Megan Dylla had 28 set assists and 16 digs.  Brooke Jennings added four kills and five digs.  Ivey Schoenfelder had four kills, four digs, and three blocks.  Alyssa Asleson had eight digs.  Harper Anderson and Aubree Blue had five digs each.
