Bulldog Football Season Ends in Semifinals

The De Smet Bulldogs fell to the Avon Pirates in the 9B semifinals on Friday, November 3rd, ending the Bulldog season.  The Pirates won 46-19.

Avon put the first score on the board after a three-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter.  A made two-point conversion gave Avon an 8-0 lead.  The Pirates added another three-yard touchdown run later in the quarter for a 14-0 lead.

Avon added to their lead with a five-yard run in the second quarter.  The two-point conversion extended the lead to 22-0.  The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Trace Van Regenmorter to Kadyn Fast.  Melville Deloye made the extra to make the score 22-7.  Avon got one more score right before halftime on a two-yard run and two-point conversion.  The Pirates led 30-7 at halftime.

Avon scored first in the second half.  They had another three-yard touchdown run and then made two-point conversion for a 38-7 lead in the third quarter.  Van Regenmorter threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Tom Aughenbaugh later in the quarter to cut the lead to 38-13.   The Pirates added a 10-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.  The made two-point conversion gave Avon a 46-13 advantage.  The final Bulldog touchdown and final score of the game came on a five-yard touchdown run by Wyatt Jennings.
