The De Smet Bulldogs cruised into the 9B semifinals with a 42-0 quarterfinal win over the Gayville-Volin Raiders at home on Thursday, October 26th.
The Bulldogs put points on the board in every quarter. Britt Carlson connected with Kadyn Fast for a big 74-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Carlson had another touchdown pass in the quarter, a 16-yard pass to Trace Van Regenmorter. De Smet led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Ganon Henrich had a big 80-yard touchdown run with 4:56 to play in the second quarter to increase the Bulldog lead. De Smet got one more score before halftime. Carlson threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Tom Aughenbaugh with :23 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs led 28-0 at halftime.
Henrich had another rushing touchdown in the third quarter. He scored on a 39-yard run with 2:57 left to go in the quarter. Carlson and Aughenbaugh connected for another touchdown, a 15-yard pass, late in the fourth quarter. Melville Deloye was a perfect six-for-six on extra points on the night.
The Bulldogs will travel to #1 Avon for the semifinals on Friday, November 3rd. The winner of the game will advance to the 9B championship game.
