Bulldog Volleyball Places Fifth in Lake Preston

The De Smet Bulldog volleyball team placed fifth at the 43rd Annual Lake Preston Tournament on Saturday, September 17th.  The Bulldogs finished with a 2-1 record in their three matches.

The first match of the day was against the Flandreau Fliers.  Flandreau took the first set by a score of 25-15.  The Bulldogs responded with a 25-20 win in the second set to force the third and final set.  The Fliers won the final set 25-19.

In the first round of the consolation bracket, the Bulldogs won in straight sets against Waubay-Summit.  De Smet won by scores of 25-18 and 25-21.  The win moved the Bulldogs to the consolation championship match.

In that match, the Bulldogs faced the Estelline-Hendricks Redhawks.  The Bulldogs got the advantage in the match with a 25-22 opening set win.  The Redhawks got the win in the second set 25-17, but De Smet took the final set of the match 25-20 for a fifth place finish.

De Smet (7-7) will travel to James Valley Christian High School on Tuesday, September 20th.
