#8 Chester Ends Winning Streak for Cardinal Girls

The St Mary Cardinal girls hosted the #8 ranked Chester Flyers on Friday, January 30th.  The Flyers snapped the eight-game winning streak of the Cardinals with a 44-34 win.

The first quarter proved to be the difference in the win for the Flyers.  Chester outscored St Mary 19-7 in the opening quarter.  The Cardinals cut the lead to 24-17 with 2:30 to go in the half, and that was the same score at halftime.  They would score the first point of the third quarter for a 24-18 score, but Chester pushed the lead to 11 points, 37-26, by the end of the quarter.  The Flyers extended their lead to 44-26 with 4:30 to go in the game.  The Cardinals ended the game on an 8-0 run, but ran out of time for a bigger comeback.

St Mary shot 37% (13-35) in the game, 29% (4-14) on three-point shots, and 4-8 from the free-throw line.  Maddyn LeBrun had 12 points and eight rebounds.  Madelyn Klein ended with nine points and two rebounds.  Sophia McNaughton added eight points and three rebounds.  Stephenie Geraets had four points, five assists, three rebounds, and two steals.  Harper Werdel had seven rebounds and five assists.
