The St Mary Cardinal girls took part in the Entringer Classic in Colman on Saturday, December 20th. The Cardinals faced the Sioux Valley Cossacks. The Cossacks used a fast start in the first quarter to help them to a 71-41 win.
Sioux Valley scored 24 points in the opening quarter by making six three-point shots. The Cossacks led 24-7 going into the second quarter. St Mary’s kept pace with Sioux Valley in the second quarter, but the Cossacks led 37-18 at halftime. Sioux Valley outscored the Cardinals 34-23 in the second half in the win.
St Mary’s shot 32% (15-47) overall, just 14% (2-14) on three-point shots, and 67% (8-12) from the free-throw line. Sioux Valley shot 51% (29-57) overall, 36% (12-33) on three-point attempts, and 4-9 from the free-throw line.
Layla Joe Hanson finished with 18 points, four steals, and three rebounds. Stephenie Geraets had nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Maddyn LeBrun added six points and five rebounds.
