Winning Streak Reaches Seven for Cardinal Girls

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls kept their winning streak with another strong performance on Saturday, February 3rd.  The Cardinals defeated the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks 61-47 to improve their record to 9-6 on the season.

St Mary took control of the game in the opening quarter.  The Cardinals built a 19-10 lead by the end of the period.  They extended the lead to 36-24 by halftime.  The momentum did not stop for the Cardinals in the second half.  They increased their lead to 53-35 by the end of the third quarter and cruised through the fourth quarter for the win.

The Cardinals shot 41% (22-54) overall in the game, 16% (3-19) from three-point area, and 64% (14-22) from the free-throw line.  Elkton-Lake Benton finished the game shooting 34% (14-41) overall, 13% (2-15) on three-point attempts, and 61% (17-28) from the free-throw line.  The Elks committed 21 turnovers in the game compared to just 12 by the Cardinals.

Jenna Miller finished with 16 points, two rebounds, and three steals.  Jodie Klein had a big game with 12 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists.  Addison Libis added 11 points and four rebounds.  Brianna Griffin had seven points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Stephenie Geraets had five points, two rebounds, and three steals.
