Colman-Egan Rallies in Second Half for Win over Cardinal Girls

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls basketball team had a double-digit lead in the second quarter, but the Colman-Egan Hawks rallied in the second half.  The Hawks defeated the Cardinals 45-33 in Colman on Thursday, December 14th.

The Hawks started the game with a three-pointer, and then St Mary went on a 12-0 run.  Colman-Egan scored the final point of the quarter, and the Cardinals led 12-4 after the first quarter.  St Mary built a 12-point lead, 18-6, with 3:15 to play in the half.  The Cardinals finished the half leading 20-13.

Colman-Egan found their shot in the third quarter, knocking down five three-pointers.  The Hawks outscored St Mary 19-5 in the quarter to take a 32-25 lead into the fourth quarter.  St Mary was only able to get eight more points in the fourth quarter as Colman-Egan added another 12 points.

The Cardinals shot 22% (11-49) from the field overall, 16% (3-19) from three-point area, and 36% (8-22) from the free-throw line.  After a slow start in the first half, Colman-Egan shot 33% (14-43) overall, 37% (7-19) from three-point area, and 45% (9-20) from the free-throw line.

Jenna Miller had 19 points, five rebounds, seven steals, and two assists.  Brianna Griffin had seven points, seven rebounds, and two steals.  Maddyn LeBrun added three points, two rebounds, and two steals.
