The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team finished their 2023 season in Colman on Tuesday, October 24th. The Cardinals fell to the Colman-Egan Hawks in straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-12, and 25-19.
St Mary started the first set with an early 3-1 lead. Colman-Egan tied the score 5-5 and then went ahead 10-7. The Hawks then went on a 10-1 run for a 20-8 advantage. The Cardinals rallied to pull within three, 22-19, but the Hawks finished the set with a 25-21 win.
Colman-Egan started the second set with a 7-2 run. They went on another 10-1 run for a 17-4 score. They cruised to a 25-12 victory in the second set. The Hawks started the third set on a 3-0 run. The Cardinals responded with a 10-1 run of their for a 10-4 lead. The Cardinals stayed in front until Colman-Egan tied the score 16-16. The Hawks went on a 4-1 run for a 20-17 lead. St Mary pulled within a point, 20-19, but Colman-Egan finished the match with a 5-0 run for a 25-19 win.
Brianna Griffin had a team-high 10 kills. Brianna Lindeman finished with 2 set assists. Jenna Miller added 26 digs, andd Megan Geraets had five blocks.
The Cardinals finish the regular season with a 6-19 record. They will be the #7 seed in the Region 3B tournament and will play Colman-Egan on Monday, October 30th.
