The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal volleyball team celebrated senior night on their final regular season home match Tuesday, October 17th. The Cardinals hosted the Elkton-Lake Benton Elks, and the Elks won the match in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-7.
Elkton-Lake Benton took a quick 7-2 lead to start the first set. They extended that lead to 16-4. The Cardinals fought back throughout the set to pull within four points, 20-16. The Elks, however, would stop the rally and score the final five points for a 25-16 win.
The second set started with a 4-0 run by the Elks. They continued to lead by four points 10-6, before going on an 11-3 run to push their lead to 21-13. They would finish the second set the same way they started it, with a 4-0 run, to take a 25-13 lead. The momentum carried over into the third set. The Elks rallied to a 15-2 score and rolled from there to a 25-7 victory in the final set.
The three seniors honored prior to the match for the Cardinals were Jaycee Tebay, Livia Abel, and Brianna Lindeman.
