On Tuesday, the Lady Cards Competitive Cheer of St. Mary’s took 2nd place in Dell Rapids. After driving a few blocks down to the Public School, the Cardinals would look to win another meet in their hometown. The Cardinals made it tough, though they were very narrowly defeated by perennial cheer powerhouse Sioux Valley. It was quite the impressive performance for St. Mary’s, pulling off several complex jumps.
Judge Scoring
One judge gave the Cardinals a 79.5/100. Scoring them 3.5/5 on their jump, standing and running tumbling, and pyramid execution. They also scored 3.5/5 in overall creativity and spacing. The difficulty ratings gave them 5s in jumps, partner stunts, tosses, and pyramids. The Lady Cards also scored 4s in execution for partner stunts, tosses, pace, energy, skill use, motion, and timing.
The second judge gave the Cardinals an 80.5/100 score. The judge gave 5/5 ratings on toss difficulty, jump difficulty, partner stunt difficulty, and pyramid difficulty. The Cardinals received 4s in partner stunt and toss execution, along with pace, energy, skill use, motion, and timing. 3.5 was the rating for jump execution, standing and running tumbling execution and difficulty, pyramid execution, formations, creativity and spacing.
What’s Next
This Cardinal team has appeared to be well led this season. Coach Cami Bacon leads the way along with Seniors Madelyn Klein, Brianna Weiland, Ella Kangas, Stephenie Geraets, Rylee Chamley, and Makyla Buchholz. The younger classes have had great models to take after as they continue into their season. After Lady Cards Competitive Cheer takes 2nd in cross-town meet, they will look forward to their next meet on September 20th in Brookings. This meet will be at the Swiftel Center starting at 11:00 A.M. We look forward to Saturday as the Cardinals look for another high-placing performance.
