After a strong season in 2024 culminating in a 6th place finish at state St Mary Competitive Cheer is ready to run the mats in 2025. With 7 new members and 17 returning cheerleaders, St Mary’s fields their largest team ever. Among those 17 returning is a 6-member senior class who headlines the team. Seniors include Stephenie Geraets, Makyla Buchholz, Madelyn Klein, Rylee Chamley, Ella Kangas, and Brianna Weiland-many who have been on the squad for 6 years, or since their 7th grade year.
Head Coach Cami Bacon is leading the St Mary’s squad again. I was able to reach out to her for comment regarding her hopes for this season.
“I’m looking forward to working with this group of girls!”
“We return many key members from last year’s squad and hope to keep the momentum going to improve on our state finish. The team has set high goal for this year and has worked very hard in the preseason and is ready to get in front of an audience and start getting the judges’ feedback. We took back ownership of our performance this year and have choreographed our routine. We are very excited with how everything is coming together and have some fun elements incorporated this year. We hope to keep improving throughout the season and stay free from injuries.”
Coach Bacon made it obvious what she wants out of this season. She hopes these girls can have fun, learn hard work and how to work as a team, and of course, she hopes for this team to be able to show their talent regularly
