Cardinal Girls Take Fourth Place at State B Tournament

The St Mary Cardinals faced off against the Centerville Tornadoes in the 3rd/4th place game at the 2025 South Dakota State B Girls Basketball Tournament in Huron on Saturday, March 15th.  Despite a strong effort, the Cardinals fell short, and the Tornadoes took the win 65-50.

Centerville jumped out to an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 20-9.  The Cardinals fought back in the second quarter, cutting into the lead with key contributions from Addison Libis and Madala Hanson, but trailed 28-20 at halftime.  Centerville was able to maintain their lead in the third quarter by outscoring the Cardinals 15-14.  The Tornadoes led 43-34 going into the final quarter.  Centerville sealed the game in the fourth quarter with a 22-16 scoring advantage.

The Cardinals shot 32.8% (20-61) overall in the game, 19% (4-21) from three-point area, and 42.9% (6-14) from the free-throw line.  Centerville shot 48.9% (22-45) overall, 55.6% (10-18) on three-point shots, and 61.1% (11-18) from the free-throw line.

Hanson finished with 12 points and three rebounds and was also named to the All-Tourney team.  Brianna Griffin had 12 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Libis ended with 11 points and three rebounds.  Stephenie Geraets had six points and three rebound.  Maddyn LeBrun added five points and 10 rebounds.  Jenna Miller had four points and seven rebounds.

The Cardinals finished the season with an overall record of 18-8.
