St Mary Girls Go Cold in Second Half in Mitchell

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls went cold in the second half at the DWU Culver’s Classic in Mitchell on Friday, February 9th.  The Corsica-Stickney Jaguars earned the win 65-28.

The Jaguars raced out to a 17-0 lead to start the game and ended the first quarter with a 20-8 lead.  The Cardinals got the lead down to nine points, 30-21, with 2:30 to play in the first half.  Corsica-Stickney ended the second quarter on an 8-0 run for a 38-21 halftime lead.  St Mary then went cold from the field in the second half.  They made just two field goals and three free throws in the final two quarters.  The Jaguars took advantage and outscored St Mary 27-7 in the second half.

St Mary shot 22% (10-45) from the field overall, 11% (2-18) from three-point area, and 50% (6-12) from the free-throw line.  Corsica-Stickney finished the game shooting 61% (25-41) overall, 55% (11-20) from three-point area, and 50% (4-8) from the free-throw line.

Jenna Miller finished with nine points and three assists.  Maddyn LeBrun had six points and three rebounds.  Stephenie Geraets had five points, three rebounds, and two steals.  Addison Libis added four points and four rebounds.  Sierra Klein had two points and three rebounds.  Jodie Klein also had two points.
