Cardinal Girls Win Fifth Straight Game

The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinal girls won their fifth straight game on Tuesday, January 30th.  The Cardinals traveled to Rutland for a make-up game against the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders.  The Cardinals used a second half rally for a 65-55 win.

The Raiders built a five-point lead by the end of the first quarter, 17-12.  Oldham-Ramona/Rutland kept their lead in the second quarter, but led by just three points at halftime, 34-31.  St Mary rallied in the third quarter and took the lead.  They held a 49-44 advantage going into the fourth quarter.  The Cardinals held the Raiders to just four made shots and forced eight turnovers in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

St Mary shot 36% (26-73) from the field overall, 24% (7-29) on three-point attempts, and 46% (6-13) from the free-throw line.  The Raiders shot 39% (20-51) overall, 38% (3-8) from three-point area, and 52% (12-23) from the free-throw line.

Four players finished in double figures for the Cardinals.  Addison Libis had 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Jenna Miller added 15 points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals.  Stephenie Geraets had 10 points, three rebounds, and two steals.  Jodie Klein also had 10 points with two rebounds and three steals.  Brianna Griffin had seven points, two rebounds, and three assists.  Maddyn LeBrun added four points and 12 rebounds.
