The Dell Rapids St Mary Cardinals finished 2-1 at the Estelline Tournament on Saturday, August 27th in Estelline. The Cardinals won their first two matches against Langford and Hitchcock-Tulare before falling the Estelline-Hendricks.
Game 1: St Mary 2, Langford 0
The Cardinals had no trouble with the Langford Lions. St Mary won in straight sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-15.
Ella Griffin had nine kills. Maya Heinitz finished with five kills, 14 digs, and an ace serve. Brianna Griffin had three kills, three digs, and three ace serves. Brianna Lindeman added 14 set assists, six digs, and three ace serves. Josie Baumberger had four digs.
Game 2: St Mary 2, Hitchcock-Tulare 0
St Mary cruised to a second match win over the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots in straight sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-13.
E. Griffin had a team-high seven kills along with four ace serves and three digs. B. Griffin added five kills, three ace serves, and two digs. Lindeman had 14 set assists and four ace serves. Baumberger had a team-high four digs. Heinitz, Jacyee Tebay, and Megan Geraets all had two kills each.
Game 3: Estelline-Hendricks 2, St Mary 0
The Esetlline-Hendricks Redhawks ended the straight-set wins for the Cardinals with a 2-0 win of their own. The Redhawks won by scores of 25-22 and 25-13.
E. Griffin had seven kills. Heinitz had four kills and 10 digs. Lindeman finished with 14 set assists and two ace serves. Tebay added two kills and two blocks. Baumberger had nine digs, Madala Hanson had six, and Whitney Warwick had three digs.
The Cardinals will host Oldham-Ramona/Rutland on Tuesday, August 30th.
