Madison’s Big Fifth Inning Key in Win over Tri-Valley Maroon 14U

Madison Black 14U scored six times in the top of the fifth inning, which proved to be the difference in a 10-4 win over Tri-Valley Maroon on Tuesday, June 7th.

Madison scored two times in the top of the second inning for an early 2-0 lead.  Tri-Valley had a big inning of their own in the bottom of the fourth.  Tristen Bunde had an RBI ground ball and reached on an error.  Treyson Richter also scored on the error to tie the game 2-2.  Gage Egger followed with an RBI single.  Parker Atwood had an RBI ground out later in the inning, and Tri-Valley led 4-2 after the fourth inning.

Madison, however, scored six times in the top of the fifth, all with two outs.  The runs came on just two hits, but also four walks, a hit batter, and an error.  Madison would also score a single run in the top of the sixth and seventh innings.

Egger had a hit and an RBI.  Richter had two hits, including a double.  Denton Bicknase finished with a single.  Bunde had two RBIs in the game, and Atwood had one RBI.  Cole Hendrixson pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing two runs, neither of them earned, on a hit and walk with four strikeouts.  Bunde pitched 4 2/3 innings and allowed six runs, all earned, on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.  Jackson Williams allowed two unearned runs on two walks.

Early Lead Lifts Tri-Valley 16U Baseball to Victory

The Tri-Valley 16U baseball team won their first game of the year on Monday, June 6th over Tea at home.  Tri-Valley scored 10 runs in the first three innings on their way to an 11-2 victory.

Tri-Valley put together a five-run bottom of the first inning.  Holden Rise,  Levi Kretzschmar, and Hunter Foster all had RBI singles.  Kretzschmar and Foster both scored on wild pitches.  After Tea scored a run in the second, Tri-Valley put four more runs on the board.  Everett Althoff and Kretzschmar had RBI singles.  Cyrus Kirstein brought home two runs with a single.

Altohff added an RBI single in the bottom of the third for a 10-1 lead.  Tea’s second run came in the top of the fifth inning.  Kirstein drove home the final run for Tri-Valley with a single in the bottom of the sixth.

Kirstein had two hits and three RBIs.  Althoff and Kretzschmar both had two hits and two RBIs.  Rise finished with two singles and an RBI.  Foster had a hit and an RBI.  Alex Wingen had three hits, including a double.  Benjamin Myhre also had a hit. Wingen pitched four innings allowing two runs, one earned, on a hit and three walks with eight strikeouts.  Althoff pitched three innings giving up four hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Buchmann Finishes Season at State Golf

Stephanie Buchmann represented the Tri-Valley Mustangs at the 2022 South Dakota State A Golf Tournament at Bakker Crossing on Monday, June 6th and Tuesday, June 7th.  Buchmann finished 65th overall with a two-day score of 217 (109, 108).

Tri-Valley 14U Teams Post Wins

Both Tri-Valley 14U White and Tri-Valley 14U Maroon posted wins in their last games.  Tri-Valley White beat Parker 13-3 Tuesday, May 31st.  Tri-Valley White defeated Dell Rapids Red 14-2 on Wednesday, June 1st.

Tri-Valley Maroon 13, Parker 3

Tri-Valley Maroon scored 10 unanswered runs after the game was tied 3-3 in a 13-3 victory over Parker at home in a six-inning game.  Parker scored the first two runs in the top of the first inning, but Tri-Valley answered with three in the bottom of the inning.  Parker scored one more time in the top of the second to tie the game 3-3.  Tri-Valley then scored three runs in the bottom of the third, six more times in the bottom of the fifth, and one in the sixth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Mason Hemme had two hits and three RBIs.  Tristen Bunde and D Christensen both had a hit and an RBI.  Treyson Ricther had two hits.  Cole Hendrixson finished with a double.  Myles DeWitt had two RBIs, and Gage Egger had an RBI.

Egger pitched the first three innings allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts.  Bunde pitched the final three innings and allowed just one hit while striking out five batters.

Tri-Valley White 14, Dell Rapids Red 2

Tri-Valley White had a 12-run third inning in a 14-2 five-inning win over Dell Rapids Red at home.  Tri-Valley also scored a run in the second and fourth innings.  Dell Rapids scored both of their runs in the top of the fifth inning.  Tri-Valley belted 16 hits in the win, while holding Dell Rapids to just three hits.

Cooper Nielson had four hits and an RBI.  Sullivan Snethen had two hits and three RBIs.  Both Noah Eggert and Luke Strom had two htis and two RBIs.  Landon McGill and Brenner Struiksma each had two hits and an RBI.  Matthew Cypher had a hit and an RBI, and Austin Puetz had a hit.

Struiksma pitched the first four innings and allowed three hits and three walks while striking out eight.  Nielson pitched the final inning allowing two earned runs on two walks with three strikeouts.

Mustang Boys Track Team Places Sixth at State

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys track team took sixth place overall with a total of 40 points at the State A Track Meet in Sioux Falls held Thursday, May 26th through Saturday, May 28th.

Connor Christensen won the state title in the shot put. Michael Beyer was second in both the 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles. The 4x100m relay team of Jaden Siemonsma, Dustin Sees, Carter Sorenson, and Beyer took third place. The 4x200m relay team of Siemonsma, Eli McFarland, Sorenson, and Beyer also placed third. Dustin Sees was seventh in the long jump.

Buchmann Qualifies for State Golf

Stephanie Buchmann qualified for the state tournament after her round at the Region 1A Tournament in Madison on Thursday, May 26th.  The Tri-Valley Mustangs had three golfers play in the tournament and did not register a team score.

Buchmann placed 19th individually and grabbed the final qualifying spot with a round of 105.  Both Payton Oberg and Ivy Haug finished with rounds of 135.

The State A Tournament will be held at Bakker Crossing in Sioux Falls on Monday, June 6th and Tuesday, June 7th.

Tri-Valley 14U White Falls to Parker in First Game of Season

Tri-Valley 14U White dropped their first game of the season to Parker on Tuesday, May 24th.  Parker grabbed the lead in the second inning and took the win 9-1.

Parker scored all their runs before Tri-Valley got on the board.  They got two runs in the second, three in the fourth, and four more in the top of the sixth.  Tri-Valley got their run in the bottom of the sixth when Cooper Nielson scored on an error.

Tri-Valley was held to just two hits.  Sullivan Snethen and Austin Puetz each had a single.  Brady Jewett pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.  Brenner Struiksma pitched three innings and allowed seven runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts.  Snethen pitched one inning.

Mustang Girls Golf at Dak-12 Tournament

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls golf team was at Bakker Crossing in Sioux Falls for the Dak-12 Conference Tournament on Monday, May 23rd.  The Mustangs finished with a team score of 462.

Stephanie Buchmann had a round of 109 on the day.  Ivy Haug finished with a 113.  Hillary Hastings had a round of 115, and Payton Oberg finished with a 125.

Tri-Valley will be in Madison on Thursday, May 26th for the Region 1A Tournament.

Boys 3rd, Girls 7th for Mustang Track at Region 3A Meet

The Tri-Valley Mustang boys track team finished third and the girls seventh at the Region 3A track meet in Lennox on Thursday, May 19th.  The boys finished with 101 points.  The girls team had a total of 46 points.

The girls sprint medley relay team of Hailey McNamara, Paige Jewett, Ella Richardson, and Brie Peters finished second.  The 4x100m relay team of Emry Jones, Maddie Wenzel, Jewett, and Richardson finished fourth.  Ava Pearson finished fifth in the shot put.  Erica Bicknase placed fifth in the triple jump.  Jones was also fifth in the 100m hurdles.  The 4x400m relay team of Peyton Vogt, Avery Voeltz, McKenan Ricther, and Mattie Huwe also finished fifth.

Michael Beyer placed first in the 110m hurdles.  Connor Christensen finished second in the shot put.  Carter Sorenson placed second in the 300m hurdles.  The 4x100m relay team of Jaden Siemonsma, Dustin Sees, Sorenson, and Beyer also placed second.  Cory McDonald finished third in the 400m dash.  Christensen also had a third place finish in the discus.  The 4x400m relay team of Sees, McDonald, Isaac McFarland, and Sorenson finished third as well.

Tri-Valley Mustang Girls Golf Plays in Vermillion

The Tri-Valley Mustang girls golf team played in the Vermillion Invite on Monday, May 16th.  Tri-Valley finished with a team score of 438.

Stephanie Buchmann had the low round of the day for the Mustangs with a 99.  Ivy Haug finished with a 105.  Peyton Oberg had a round of 112.  Hillary Hastangs had a score of 122.

Tri-Valley will be at the Dak-12 Conference Tournament at Bakker’s Crossing on Monday, May 23rd.
